Denpasar Tourism Guides
January 14, 2008 - 3:35 pm
Denpasar is the youngest city in Bali which is still only 13 years old since the day it was given officially status as a self-governing municipality on the 27 February 1992. The positioning of Denpasar as a self-governing municipality experienced a gradual process from being an administrative region and the a town. However Denpasar which was originally a part of the Badung regency has played an important part in the course of history.
The war of the Puputan Badung which took place on the 20 September 1906 involved not only the family members of the palace but also its many followers, representing the feeling of pride of the Balinese people in upholding their respect.

Occupying an area of approximately 127.80 square kilometers, the city of Denpasar has a population of 522,238 which is almost the same as Badung population. It is most densely populated area in Bali with a population rate of 4.088 per square kilometers. Denpasar which was previously the center of the Kingdom of Badung has their developed into a city of trade.

Preserving the heritage from the regency of Badung, Denpasar obtains a major area for tourist accommodation facilities in Sanur. From the Inna Grand Bali Beach Hotel on the north side to Hotel Sanur Beach on the south, Sanur is filled up with hotels, restaurants and various supporting facilities for visitors.

In order to preserve its development towards the third millenium era, Denpasar city government has proclaimed a slogan of a " Cultural City for Denpasar ". Some locations in the city like the Puputan Badung Square, the Tukad Badung River, and other areas have been specially designed to meet the requirements of a cultural city. The City Tour package is created to support and sustain the quality of tourist spots.
